SUMMARY:HANDGUN 102: BASIC HANDGUN SKILLS (8 HOURS) with Sig Sauer
DESCRIPTION:OVERVIEW\nUtilizing the SIG (Simple Is Good) principle of handgun training\, this course takes students through the efficient and safe use of a handgun. Working from the holster\, performing reloads\, clearing stoppages\, and correctly manipulating a trigger to maximize accuracy are all thoroughly taught in a relaxed\, hands-on environment. \nEXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS\nThis course is Step 2 of 3 in our foundational handgun training series. HANDGUN 101 is required\, or an equivalent course\, before you attend Handgun 102. The student MUST know and be able to demonstrate how to safely load\, fire\, and unload a handgun. \nStudents failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering. \nCOURSE OUTLINE\nHandgun selection considerations\nSupport equipment\nShooting basics – the importance of proper grip\, sight alignment\, sight picture\, stance\, trigger control\, and follow through\nPresentation of the handgun from the holster to the target and safe recovery back to the holster\nAdministrative and in-service loading and unloading techniques\nStatic shooting positions\nCleaning and maintenance\nClasses starting at 8:30am will run until 5:00pm. \nEQUIPMENT LIST\nQuality functional semi-automatic pistol – Full size and compact pistols only (semi-auto center fire pistols only – revolvers or .22 caliber pistols are not allowed)\nNo micro pistols or pocket pistols to include: P238\, P938\, P365\, M&P Shield\, Glock 43\, etc.\n3 magazines\nMagazine pouch\nDominant side\, hip-mounted holster or dominant side\, belt-mounted holster\nPlease wear long pants with pockets and belt loops\, a sturdy 1.5″ belt\, closed toe shoes (no flip flops or sandals)\, and a crew neck (T-shirt) or button-up shirt (no low-cut neckline)\nOptional\, loading devices\nTuition includes free loan of firearms\, holsters\, safety glasses and hearing protection at the Epping\, NH\, New Smyrna Beach\, FL\, and Colorado Springs\, CO locations. \nAMMO\nEstimated round count: 250 rounds pistol\nFor Epping\, NH courses\, non-toxic\, non-jacketed FRANGIBLE ammunition may be required – call for clarification\nLead core ammunition to be used on steel only\nNo green/brown tip\, armor piercing\, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time\nAmmunition is available for purchase from the Epping\, New Smyrna Beach\, and Colorado Springs facilities only\nNOTES\nClasses starting at 8:30am will run until 5:00pm. \nTo sign up – please sign into SigSauerAcademy.com

DESCRIPTION:Steel Challenge is a stationary speed shoot in which you can use anything from a .22 caliper gun and up. \nIf you like to compete\, but feel uncomfortable running while doing so\, this just might be the ticket for you. \nCheck out our other postings for this sport – Sunday is the match but during the second and forth week of each month we host a practice shoot as well – a great way to try it out. \nCome see what it is all about – this is low impact on the body and the wallet as well (22LR being the reasonable choice). \nShooting begins about 6PM and continues until about 8PM. \nSign up on practiscore.com – Click on Matches – Click on Florida – and scroll down and select the match (Tampa Bay Steel Challenge) \nCome out and watch – come out and shoot – talk to the Directors about what it takes to participate in this really fun sport.
